Wisdom teeth erupt in the very back of your mouth, just behind your second molars. People mostly have all four wisdom teeth have one in each quadrant — upper left, lower left, upper right and lower right.

They erupt typically about 18 years of age and can cause discomfort, mal-alignment and other dental issues. It is advised to take an x-ray to see the position of the wisdom teeth.

Sometimes the wisdom tooth might not erupt straight and it could be horizontal which causes pressure on the tooth in front of it. and cause a lot of pain which radiates all the way upto the ear & head.

Such cases require surgical extraction of the wisdom tooth.
